Aims of the Journal

Genes & Nutrition (ISSN 1555-8932) is an international, interdisciplinary broad based peer reviewed scientific journal for critical evaluation of research on the relationship between genetics & nutrition with the goal of improving human health. To this end, the journal will publish original research articles and two types of review articles. First, a review of preclinical research data coming largely from animal, cell culture and other experimental models. Such data will provide basis for future product development and/or human research initiatives. Second, a critical evaluation of current human experimental data to help deliver products with medically proven use.

This journal will also serve as a forum for nutritionists, healthcare providers, and all those interested in preventive medicine. The following is an example of the some specific areas that may be covered by the journal:

1.Study of individual genetic differences in response to dietary components. For example, lactose intolerance, alcohol dehydrogenase deficiency, individual and population differences in blood lipid profiles and health outcomes after consumption of high fat diets.

2.Development of safe and effective diet therapies for individuals or subgroups of the population on the basis of nutrigenomic data.

3. Diet development and health outcomes from dietary patterns by defining specific sub-populations of patients.

4.Development of models of disease mechanism based on understanding the genome to provide new lines of research and possibly new diets.

5.The study of physical and genetic linkage maps combined with techniques to catalog massive databases of genetic information to uncover genes that may interact with diet to influence disease.

6.Interactions of diet and Nutrition with Genetic Susceptibility in Cancer

7.Gene-diet Interactions in Coronary Heart Disease
